Class Updates

10:45 a.m.—Easyplay Music
Text: Book #135 All Around the USA (last day for using this book).

Ellie went over the Dates to Remember as shown above these Updates and on the white board in the Keyboard World Classroom. She reminded people of the CHANGE OF TIME for class on November 17th because of the RSVP Volunteer Luncheon; also she reminded people to call in their reservations for the volunteer luncheon at 301-724-1559 by November 9th if they plan to attend.

Class today was a final focus on the songs from Book 135, All Around The USA. Ellie asked each student to sign up for a specific song that mentions a place from the current text or from a book of their choice. We were after no duplication of titles.

The first person to play this morning was Joe Radcliffe, who played All My Exes Live in Texas on the Star Dust Lowrey Organ. His background rhythm was Fox Trot, and his tempo was 125. Joe’s right hand voice was the Organ sound. Very nice, Joe! Many thanks!

Martha Filsinger played Allegheny Moon (for Allegany County) on the Prestige Lowrey Organ. Martha used the Waltz background rhythm (Guitars variation) at a tempo of 85. Her voices in the right hand included brass instruments and flutes. She used the Duet AOC. Excellent, Martha. Very beautiful. Thank you!

Janet Brant’s song was Carolina in the Morning, which she played on the Premier Lowrey Organ. Her background rhythm was the Fox Trot at a tempo of 123. Her voice in the right hand was the Clarinet. Janet eliminated the Orch Plus from the registration and played the programmed ending. Excellent, Janet. Thanks much!

Jeanne Otto played a perfect rendition of St. Louis Blues on the Premier Lowrey Organ. She used the Fox Trot automatic rhythm at a tempo of 122. She wanted the Honky Tonk Piano but settled for the Society Piano on the Premier. Her voices in the right hand included the muted trumpet and the piano/trumpet combination later. Jeanne played a fade-out ending. Super job, Jeanne! Thank you very much!

Diane Lynch also played a wonderful rendition of her song, Blue Moon of Kentucky, which she played on the Premier Lowrey Organ. Her background rhythm was the Big Band at a tempo of 125. Her voices in the right hand included the Accordion and the Clarinet (in the lower manual) for her split keyboard feature. Excellent, Diane. Perfect, as usual. Thanks!

Bill Ewing played Mississippi Mud on the Premier Lowrey Organ. His background rhythm was Rock & Roll at a tempo of 145. His variation of the rhythm was 50’s Swing Rock. His voice in the right hand was the genius voice, Saxophone. Bill played the Programmed Ending. Excellent, Bill. Thank you so much!

Harold Hoopengarner’s song was Way Down Yonder in New Orleans, which he played on the Star Dust Lowrey Organ. His automatic rhythm was the Big Band, and his voice in the right hand was the trumpet. He also used AOC. Excellent, Harold. Thank you very much!

Betty Twigg played I Left My Heart in San Francisco. She wasn’t going back to find it, either. In fact, she said she left her heart in every state of the USA. Aside from that, Betty played on the Odyssey Lowrey Organ, using the Fox Trot background rhythm. Her right hand voice, though she had the Vibes lighted, was Strings, which is the rhythm preset. One overrode the other. Betty’s tempo was 95. She ended with right hand harmony in the final chord. Excellent, Betty. Thanks much!

Rosellen Morgan played a gorgeous rendition of Oklahoma on the Star Dust Lowrey Organ. Her background rhythm was Broadway at a tempo of 110. Her voices in the right hand included the Marimba and the Theater Organ. Rosie used the Split Keyboard feature. She ended with the programmed ending and a long glissando. Excellent, Rosie. Thank you so much!

Mike Gallaher played Tennessee Waltz on the Premier Lowrey Organ. His background rhythm was the Waltz, and his right hand voice was the Rhythm Preset. His ending was “The End.” He simply stopped! Great job, Mike. Thank you so much!

Madeline Boggess’s song was Fly Me to the Moon, and we kidded her about being able to see where we were going, were we actually flying to the moon with the full moon last night and nearly a full moon again tonight! That aside, Madeline played beautifully, using her pre-recorded registration on the Star Dust Lowrey Organ. Her background rhythm was Soft ‘n Easy at a tempo of 80. Her voice in the right hand was the Piano and a Genius Voice. She also used the Pan Flute in the lower manual for her Split Keyboard feature. Madeline also transposed and continued on with the voices, piano/strings. She altered the notes to her satisfaction for a wonderful production tune. Excellent, Madeline. Thank you very much!

Shirley Hoopengarner’s song was Galveston, which she played on the Star Dust Lowrey Organ. Her background rhythm was the Easy Latin 3 (Bolero). She changed her right hand voices from trombone, to piano to strings/orchestra sounds. She used a fade-out ending. Excellent, Shirley. Many thanks!

Sylvia Twigg played Georgia on My Mind on the Odyssey Lowrey Organ. The piano was her voice in the right hand, and her background rhythm was Soft ‘n Easy at a tempo of 64. Very fine, Sylvia. Welcome back. We missed you. Thanks very much!

Please remember to bring a couple of your favorite Christmas books to class from now until Christmas for the Christmas Workshop. Also, if you can find Silent Night beginning on G, please practice that and, perhaps, we’ll play that in ensemble format to kick off our Christmas Workshop.

Have a nice week, and stay healthy!
