Class Updates March 9th

Ellie went over the dates to remember as shown above and on the white board in the Keyboard World Classroom. She asked for titles for Thursday's gig at Golden Living and for more players, too. Please sign up and call in or send titles by email for the program.

Ellie said she hasn't called any of the places to reschedule the missed gigs from February, but she will do that for March and/or April. Ron was present at the store this morning, and told the class that this year's extravaganza venue is going to be really fabulous. He said the room is wide front to back and so people won't be seated so far back. Also, there will be large 10' screens on the side walls to project what's going on onstage...

Class Updates March 2nd

Ellie discussed the Dates to Remember as shown above these Updates and on the white board in the Keyboard World Classroom. She mentioned to the group that the three gigs that had to be canceled because of the snow will be rescheduled. Also, she passed the sign-up book around the room for people to sign up for any of the scheduled activities. People were encouraged to invite former Notables, guests, and friends to join us for the Spring Quarterly on March 23rd at the Midland Fire Hall. Ellie reminded people to pay Rosie for their meals in advance. The current issue of Musically Speaking was distributed in class today. For the Spring Quarterly, people are asked to bring in pictures of one or both parents, (one picture when they were young, another, when they were older, if possible). These pictures will be scanned and the scans will be mounted on a board, which will be displayed at the Spring Quarterly. You will be asked to guess which parents belong with which Notable or Notable guest. The students were asked to give Ellie the pictures ASAP so that the display board can be prepared. Our next gig is March 11th at Golden Living Center.

Class Updates February 23rd

Ellie welcomed all the students back to class after two or three cancellations because of inclement weather. She mentioned that today is the deadline for Musically Speaking. She circulated a blank page around on a clipboard so that people could write down their personal Notable Notes or comments or even an article about the recent severe weather. (Please get any content you want printed in the upcoming issue to me as soon as possible.) She also mentioned the cancellation over the last couple weeks of gigs at Frostburg Nursing and Rehab Center and Dawnview. Both of these gigs will be rescheduled.

Ellie asked the class members to sign up for Friday's gig if they haven't done so already. We will use the program that was prepared for Dawnview last week, with modifications...

Cancellation Announcement

The gig scheduled for Dawnview Manor Nursing Home on February 19th (Friday) has been canceled. We are not comfortable with the snow-covered parking areas and the constant threat of more snow. I told the lady at Dawnview we'd reschedule for sometime in March.

You all should be really great at playing the William Tell Overture by the time we have the next class, which will be Tuesday, February 23rd if all goes well. Don't forget that the 23rd is also the deadline for the Musically Speaking.

Thanks,

Ellie

Announcements

Just a reminder that Ellie's class on Tuesday, February 16th is canceled due to Paul Shaub's visit to Keyboard World that day. They need the use of the room all day, according to Ron Klinetob. Looks like the weather would make us have to cancel anyhow from what I'm seeing.

If the weather permits, we will be going to Dawnview on Friday, February 19th at 2 p.m. Please send me titles.

George's Creek gig is scheduled for Feb. 26th. We can use the same program for both.

Feb. 23rd is the deadline for Musically Speaking. Got any content for me? How about something about this horrendous winter we're having!

Be safe.

Class Updates February 2nd

Ellie went over the Dates to Remember as shown above and on the Keyboard World Classroom. She circulated the sign up book around the room and called attention to the new sign up sheet for the March 19th gig at Willow Creek. She also reminded everyone about the Spring Quarterly---please be sure to sign up for this and to pay Rosie $10 person for the meal. Everyone was invited to attend the Executive Committee Meeting at Oscar's after class today.

Betty explained about the planned entertainment for the Spring Quarterly and requested people to bring Ellie two pictures of one or both of their parents---one showing them as youngsters, the other one showing them as older. The aim of this activity is for Notables and guests to study the pictures and name the Notable offspring if they can! Please bring the pictures to Ellie ASAP because they have to be scanned into the computer, printed and arranged on a display board for March 23rd. Hope many of you will participate in this activity!

Class Updates, January 26th

Ellie reviewed the Dates to Remember as shown above these Updates and on the white board in the Keyboard World Classroom. She passed the sign up book around the classroom and announced that the sign up sheet for Willow Creek will be in the book next week. Sara Spriggs' book was returned by Shirley and Harold Hoopengarner and received by Rosellen Morgan.

Then Ellie played a professional recording of The William Tell Overture, Claire de Lune, and Nocturne (Chopin). Later in the class, she also played The Skater's Waltz played by Mervin Kauten, a former student who is now deceased. Betty Twigg assisted with the operation of the CD player. Thanks, Betty!

Class Updates January 19th

Ellie went over the Dates to Remember as shown above these Updates and on the white board in the Keyboard World Classroom. She circulated the sign up book around the classroom and called attention to two new sign up sheets included therein.

We were happy to see Mike and Sunny back today, the first time since her recent illness; also, Madeline Boggess was back today, as was Bill Ewing. Welcome back, folks!

The Frostburg Nursing & Rehab Center (formerly St. Vincent's) has asked us to come entertain their residents on February 12 for their Valentine's Day Party; they also asked if we would be willing to commit to coming there once every month. The Festival Organ that they have will be available for our gig on February 12th.

Class Updates January 12th

Again today the weather or other problems kept the attendance down in class, but we had a productive session anyhow. People were reminded that payment of $19.95 for the next ten lessons is due now, please.

Ellie went over the Dates to Remember as shown above these Updates and on the Keyboard World Classroom white board. Ellie reminded the students of Friday's gig at George's Creek and requested titles of songs for the program.
